( Part 1)THE JOURNEY INTO LIGHT     A Pilgrim’s Contemplative Vision of the Soul’s Journey to Śrī Vaikuṇṭha

(Series of 40 blog posts )

A humble Offering at the Lotus Feet of Our Āchāryas

Śrīmate Rāmānujāya Namaḥ

This series is not an attempt to explain the sacred Archirādi Mārga independently, nor does it claim to describe the Lord’s divine arrangement exactly as it unfolds.

It is a humble devotional contemplation woven from the nectar of the Upaniṣhads, the Divya Prabandham, the teachings of our revered Pūrvācāryas, and especially the sacred Śrī Vaiṣṇava Rahasya Granthas

As I reflected upon these timeless teachings, my heart began to visualize the soul’s glorious return to its Eternal Master. These pages are simply that contemplation expressed as a pilgrim’s vision.

Wherever the narration agrees with our sampradāya, the credit belongs entirely to Bhagavān, our Āḻvārs, our Āchāryas, and above all to Jagadāchārya  Swamy Rāmānuja, whose boundless compassion opened the gates of Śrī Vaikuṇṭha for countless souls.

Wherever there are shortcomings, omissions, or errors in understanding, they arise solely from my own limited comprehension poor understanding

I earnestly beg forgiveness from Bhagavān, from our Āḻvārs, our Pūrvācāryas, and from every Śrī Vaiṣṇava who may  be reading the blog series.

If this humble effort inspires even one devotee to open the Divya Prabandham book  with greater love, to cherish the words of our Ācāryas, to undertake a pilgrimage to the sacred Divya Deśams, to deepen the spirit of śaraṇāgati, and to long for the eternal kainkaryam at the lotus feet of Śrīman Nārāyaṇa and Śrī Mahālakṣmī, then this offering will have fulfilled its purpose.

May every page remind us that this world is not our final destination.

Our true Home awaits.

Once again please forgive me in any offences in portraying the lokas

The Greeting That Changed Eternity”

Day …1

One day, every heartbeat will become a footstep.   Every breath will become a prayer. Every prayer will become a journey. And every true journey ends only at His Lotus Feet.”

Before you read another word, allow me to ask you a question.
Have you ever wondered…
Who will greet you in the morning after your last sunrise on Earth?
Will there be silence?
Will there be darkness?
Will there be fear?
Or…
Will there already be Someone waiting?

I never imagined that an ordinary greeting would become the doorway to eternity.
It began so simply.
“Good morning, Sir…”
The words were gentle.
Familiar.
Almost ordinary.

A young doctor stood before me, smiling with quiet compassion.

I wanted to reply.
Instead…
something unexpected happened.
The hospital room slowly faded—not into darkness, but into a light unlike anything my eyes had ever known.
I tried to open my eyes wider.
Then I realized…

I no longer needed them.
For the first time in countless births, I was not seeing with eyes.
I was seeing with the soul.
There was no pain.
No fear.
No anxiety.
No race against time.
Time itself had quietly stepped aside.

The Supreme Lord

My body, which had faithfully carried me through life’s joys and sorrows, seemed to whisper one final message..

“My work is complete. Go where I could never follow.”

Yet I did not feel abandoned…..
Quite the opposite.
I felt…
held.
Not by hands.
But by compassion.

A compassion so ancient that it had silently accompanied me through every birth, every mistake, every prayer, every tear, every act of surrender.
Only now did I recognize it.

Then, from somewhere beyond sound, a promise echoed through my entire being.
“Na ca punar āvartate…”
“He does not return.”
My mind trembled.
“Can this truly be happening?”

My soul answered with a peace I had never known.
“If this is His call…
why should I fear?”

At that moment I understood something our Ācāryas have taught for centuries.
For one who has sought refuge at the Lotus Feet of Śrīman Nārāyaṇa through the compassionate mediation of Śrī Mahālakṣmī, death is not an ending.
It is not defeat.
It is not darkness…

It is the Lord keeping His promise.
Perhaps…
this is why JagathAcharyar Bhagavad Rāmānuja did not write the Vaikuṇṭha Gadyam merely with scholarship.
He wrote it with longing.

With tears.
With certainty that beyond this fragile world lies our eternal Home.
As I gathered the courage to take what seemed like my very first step…
a radiant flame appeared before me.
It was alive.
It was conscious.
And…
it was waiting for me……

How can fire welcome without burning?
Tomorrow, we shall stand before Archis, the first luminous gateway on the Path of Light, where even the element we fear becomes a loving servant of the Lord.
Until then, carry this thought in your heart:
“Heaven may reward good deeds. But Vaikuṇṭha welcomes surrendered souls.”

To be continued tomorrow……

Watch this space …

  Today’s Divine Promise…..
“The Lord never abandons a soul that turns toward Him.”

Tomorrow’s Mystery…..
If the Flame did not burn…

why was it waiting?

Archis marga is the structural path the soul travels, the entire journey is ultimately fueled and culminated by this profound, self-revealing Grace of God.

    Vis-a-vis

After shedding the mortal gross body, the departed soul (Jiva) invests itself in a subtle body. Holding the cosmic thread of light and time, it embarks upon the celestial highway of Archis marga. The soul ascends progressively through the temporal and elemental realms of Fire, Day, the Waxing Moon, and the Northern Solstice, moving upward through the divine spheres of the Devas, Vayu, and Aditya.

Pressing deeper into the celestial currents, it traverses the planes of Chandra, Vidyut, and Varuna, before passing through the majestic domains of the cosmic rulers, Indra and Prajapati. At the flash of lightning (Vidyut), a divine, non-human guide—the Amanava Purusha—descends to escort the soul.

Before entering the ultimate realm, the soul takes a liberating dip in the celestial Viraja River. In these sacred waters, it sheds the final, subtle remnants of Rajas (passion/activity) and Tamas (ignorance/inertia), emerging as a crystallized mettle of pure, unalloyed Sattva (purity and light).

Thus purified, the soul is led into the immediate proximity of Brahman. Here, it achieves an intimate oneness with the Divine—sharing in the Supreme Form, appearance, and the uninterrupted enjoyment of perpetual Bliss (Ananda). In this liberated state, the soul retains the absolute freedom to manifest with form or without form, and can freely traverse any realm, including Pitru-loka (the realm of the ancestors), effortlessly utilizing the expanded apparatus of its Dharmabhuta Jnana (all-pervading, attributive consciousness).

This is the ultimate path of God-realization as expounded in the Shariraka Mimamsa (Brahma Sutras). Dasarathy Dasan, K S Srinivasan.
