Musings of a Soul returning to its eternal Home (Part 4)

“The Lord never loses sight of a soul that has surrendered. Every road of devotion eventually becomes His road Home.”

Yesterday, I walked through Śukla Pakṣa, the Realm where Light never ceases to increase. With every step, I discovered that the nearer we come to the Lord, the brighter our memories become—not of ourselves, but of His immeasurable compassion.
Then…the Light itself pointed toward a mysterious northern path.
Today…

I stand upon it.

At first, it looked like an ordinary road.
But as I stepped forward, I realized…

it was alive.
It was not made of stone.
Nor of crystal.
Nor of gold.
It seemed woven from countless acts of divine grace.

It seemed woven from countless acts of divine grace.
Every step upon it filled my heart with an indescribable peace.
There was no dust.

No shadow.
No crossroads.
No milestones.
Only one direction.
Forward.
For the first time, I understood why this sacred realm is called Uttarāyaṇa.

Perhaps every sacred road we have walked…every temple bell we have heard… drop of holy water that has touched our heads…
has been quietly preparing us for a journey beyond time.

What if…
every pilgrimage of our life has always been leading to the same destination?

When I completed the pilgrimage to the 106 Divya Deśams, many asked,
“Which temple moved you the most?”

Today…
standing upon this Eternal Road…

I have found my answer.
Every Divya Deśam moved me.
Because every one of them quietly pointed beyond itself.

Each temple was a loving invitation.
Each darśana whispered,

“Do not stop here… One day, come all the way Home.”and here I am near Uttarayana

For the first time, I understood why this sacred realm is called Uttarāyaṇa.

It is not merely the northern course.
It is the soul’s unwavering movement toward its Eternal Beloved.

As I continued, memories blossomed like flowers along the path.

I remembered climbing the sacred hills of Tirumala before sunrise.

I remembered standing before Lord  Śrī Raṅganātha, watching thousands of devotees lose themselves in the sweetness of His divine smile.

I remembered the majestic silence of Badarikāśrama, the grandeur of Kāñcipuram, the serenity of Melkoṭe, the embrace of Tiruvallikeni, and every one of the 106 Divya Deśams that had shaped my heart.

How often I believed,
“I have arrived.”
Today I smiled.
No…
I had only paused.
Each temple had been a milestone on a much greater pilgrimage.

Then came another memory.
The sacred forests sanctified by Śrī Rāma’s footsteps.

The ocean that lovingly parted for His mission.

The path from Ayodhyā to Laṅkā, where every step proclaimed dharma.

I remembered walking those holy places, wondering what it must have felt like for the Lord to tread that sacred earth.

Today I realized…
Every step I took there had quietly taught my own feet how to follow Him.

Then another fragrance filled the air.
The sweet memories of Vṛndāvana.

Goverdhana parikrama and the vrindavan parikrama …amongst advanced saints

The sweet memories of Vṛndāvana…
Mathurā…
Dvārakā…yes …

Nava dwaraka

The places where Śrī Kṛṣṇa laughed, played, guided, and revealed the eternal wisdom of the Bhagavad Gītā.

The waters of the Yamunā.
The breeze carrying His flute’s remembrance.

The sacred rivers of Bhārata in which I had immersed myself with folded hands.
One by one…every pilgrimage returned afresh …..

Not as achievements.
But as gifts. Suddenly, the road beneath my feet shimmered.

It was as though every sacred journey I had ever undertaken had merged into this one radiant path.

Then a profound realization arose.
The Lord never sent me on 106 pilgrimages so that I could count temples.
He sent me so that my heart would recognize His footsteps when He finally called me Home.

I stood still.

Tears of gratitude flowed effortlessly.

How patient He had been.
How lovingly He had prepared me.
How gently He had transformed every earthly yātrā into a lesson for eternity.
As I lifted my eyes…

the road suddenly began to move.
Not beneath me…

Around me.

A gentle breeze arose.

Not like the winds of Earth.
This breeze carried peace.
Compassion.

And an indescribable welcome.
The entire path seemed to rejoice.
Someone…was approaching.

Not walking.

Not flying.

But embracing the very space around me.

The breeze whispered only one word…

“Come…”..

Tomorrow…

I shall meet Vāyu, the Divine Companion who carries the liberated soul onwardnot with force, but with the tenderness of the Lord’s own compassion.

The Upaniṣads describe Uttarāyaṇa as one of the luminous stages of the Archirādi Mārga.

Our revered Pūrvācāryas explain that this journey is not earned by human effort. It is the unfolding of the Lord’s grace toward the soul that has sought refuge in Him. Every stage reveals that Bhagavān Himself has arranged the journey so that His devotee is never alone.
