(Part 19)  THE JOURNEY INTO LIGHT..Musings of a Soul Returning to Its Eternal Home

The First Glimpse Beyond the Gates

When ignorance falls away, eternity does not suddenly begin. It quietly reveals that it has always been before us.”

Yesterday…
the Gates opened…

Not because someone unlocked them.
But because I finally discovered they had never been closed.

The only gate that ever existed…
was the one built by my own ignorance.

Today…..

I take my first step beyond them.
The moment I crossed the threshold…
everything changed.

Not because the landscape changed.
Because my vision changed.

Before me stretched an endless expanse unlike anything words could ever contain.

The sky was neither blue…
nor golden…
nor white.
It carried every colour…
yet belonged to none.

It was living light.
Gentle.
Compassionate.
Infinite.

The breeze carried fragrances I had never experienced upon Earth.

Not merely the fragrance of flowers…
but the fragrance of peace itself.
There was no wind.
No movement.

Yet everything danced.
Flowers bloomed without fading.
Birds sang without pause.

Streams sparkled without rushing.
Every particle of that world seemed to whisper only one truth……

He is here.”

As I continued walking…

I noticed something extraordinary.

There were no signs.

No directions.

No maps.

No one seemed uncertain.

Every path naturally led toward the Lord.

Then I smiled.

Had this not always been true on Earth?

Every Divya Deśam I had visited…

every holy river…

every sacred hill…

every Āḻvār’s hymn…

every Ācārya’s instruction…

had quietly pointed in only one direction.

The Lord had never scattered holy places across Bhārata.

He had planted reminders.

Every pilgrimage had been a lesson in returning Home.

Suddenly…..

the first glimpse of Śrīraṅgam returned to my heart.

Standing across Mother Kāverī…

seeing those majestic gopurams rise above the horizon…

before even entering…

my eyes had overflowed.

At Tirumala too…

the first sight of Ānanda Nīlayam from afar always stilled my breath.

At Badarikāśrama…

at Melkoṭe…

at Ahobilam…

at every Divya Deśam…

the first glimpse always carried a mysterious joy.

Today…

I finally understood why.

The soul was never rejoicing merely because it had reached a temple.

It was remembering…

however faintly…

its Eternal Homeland.

Then another realization arose.

How many times had I wondered…

“Why does this place move me so deeply?”

The answer stood before me.

Because every sacred place is a mirror.

It reflects not merely the Lord’s presence…

but the soul’s forgotten identity.

The Archirādi Mārga……

I now understood…

had never truly begun after leaving the body.

It had begun long ago…

the very first day I bowed my head before Him.

The first day I sincerely uttered,

“I am Yours.” Yours always., forever

Every act of surrender…

had weakened another gate of ignorance.

Every act of service…

had brought this Eternal City into clearer view.

The Lord had not been waiting for me here.

He had been walking beside me…

through every temple corridor…

every pilgrimage…

every joy……..

The greatest pilgrimage is not measured in miles. It is measured by the distance between ‘I’ and ‘Thou.'”

every sorrow…

preparing my eyes to behold what had always existed.

As I lifted my gaze……

I saw radiant figures in the distance.

They were approaching slowly.

Their faces shone with indescribable serenity.

Their smiles carried no excitement…

only recognition.

It was as though they had always known…

this day would come.

Our Pūrvācāryas teach that the Archirādi Mārga is not merely a route taken after death. Every stage reveals another veil of ignorance being removed by the Lord’s grace.

The liberated soul does not discover a new reality—it awakens to the eternal reality that always existed…..

Looking back…

I no longer see my pilgrimages as journeys from one temple to another.

I see them as gentle lessons.

The Lord was teaching my heart to recognize Home long before He brought me here…

Every temple is a doorway.

Every Āḻvār is a guide.

Every Ācārya quietly removes another veil until only the Lord remains.”

What if…

Śrī Vaikuṇṭha is not far away?

What if…

it begins to appear the moment ignorance begins to disappear?

Perhaps…

the Gates of Eternity have never been closed.

Only the eyes of the soul needed to awaken.

Tomorrow…

The Welcoming Ones will embrace the traveller Home.

“The Path of Light is not a journey through space.

It is the gradual disappearance of darkness.

When ignorance fades…

the soul discovers that it has always been walking toward Home.”

To be continued…
