(Part 42 )  THE JOURNEY INTO LIGHT.. Musings of a Soul Returning  to  Its Eternal Home

The  Holy Name that quietly changed my Life

The  Holy Name Srimathey Ramanujaya Namah

that quietly changed my Life

“Sometimes an Āchārya enters our life long before we recognise Him.

He comes first as a Name… and only later reveals Himself as our Eternal Guide.”

Yesterday… I stood upon the sacred soil of Tirukkōṣṭiyūr.

There I witnessed compassion so vast that it overflowed the boundaries

of secrecy itself.

Swamy  Tirukkōṣṭiyūr Nambi entrusted the Lord’s greatest treasure to one disciple.

Swamy  Rāmānuja immediately offered it to the whole world

As I continued along the radiant Archirādi Path… I wondered…

How does such boundless compassion arise?

How does one human heart become large enough to embrace the whole world?

The answer… was waiting within one small memory from my own life.

Long before I knew the lives of our Pūrva Āchāryas… long before I understood the

real depth of our sampradāya…I was simply a time bound  religious person.

I followed the customs lovingly taught by my parents and elders.

But spirituality… had not yet awakened within me.

Then… the Lord arranged a pilgrimage. It was nearly three decades ago.

We travelled to Thirukkurungudi  to worship the beautiful

Lord Thirukurungudi  Nambi in all His five sacred forms.

Every devotee was content after receiving the main temple darśhana.

Yet my heart longed to worship all the five Nambis.

Among them… Malai Nambi  who was gracing devotees in a forest

drew me with an irresistible attraction.

The path climbed into the hills. In those days…the forests were far quieter…

and wild animals freely roamed the mountains. An elderly priest gently

reassured us. “I shall accompany you.”It was a revelation

We began climbing together. At first… he appeared to be only a simple

temple priest. But with every step… something changed.

He spoke not merely of the temple. He spoke of the Lord as though

he knew Him personally. He narrated the glorious life of Nampāḍuvān.

And the importance of Kaisika Ekadasee in this temple

He spoke of Vaduga Nambi the great disciple of Swamy Ramanujar

Then… he began speaking of one name with extraordinary affection.

Swamy  Rāmānuja. He narrated how our JagadĀchārya bestowed

the sacred Aṣhṭākṣharī  upon the Lord  here Himself at this holy kṣhetra.

How the Lord joyfully accepted His devotee’s offering.

How  He came to be lovingly celebrated here as Vaiṣṇava Nambi.

As the climb continued… the old priest no longer appeared old.

His face seemed filled with quiet radiance. His words entered my heart

far more deeply than my ears. Then… without any introduction…

without any discourse… he gently looked toward me and said,

“Child…

Keep reciting ‘Srimathey Rāmānujāya Namaḥ’ as often as possible.

All the sacred Rahasya Mantras are contained within it.”

Nothing more. He simply smiled. At that moment…

I did not realise what had happened.

But today… walking this Eternal Path… I finally understand.

That single sentence became the turning point of my life.

From that day onward…Swamy mate Rāmānujāya Namaḥ quietly

became the rhythm of my breath. The transformation did not happen

overnight. It unfolded silently. “The mountains of pride , false knowledge

that I never knew existed slowly began to melt.”

“People slowly began to see changes within me

that I myself had not noticed. The credit never belonged to me. It belonged

entirely to the grace hidden within one simple mantra—

‘Srimathey Rāmānujāya Namaḥ.'”‘Srimathey Rāmānujāya Namaḥ.'”

Religion gently blossomed into spirituality. My desire changed.

Instead of merely visiting temples…I longed to know the hearts of the Āḻvārs.

The lives of the Āchāryas The meanings hidden within our PoorvĀchāryas’

granthas. Every pilgrimage became an Āchārya Yātrā.

Every temple became a classroom. Every saint became a living scripture.

As the years passed… the sacred mantra “Srimathey Rāmānujāya Namaḥ”

quietly became the rhythm of my life.

Every repetition seemed to remove another layer of pride…

another layer of ignorance… another layer of “I”.

By the Lord’s immeasurable compassion…

our family continued to visit Tirumala every year, especially during the New Year.

Standing in the queue for twenty-four hours or more never felt like hardship.

It was simply another opportunity to wait for the One who had been waiting for me throughout countless births.

Then… during one such pilgrimage around 1999… the Lord chose another messenger.

The revered Jeeyar of Tirumala unexpectedly called me after Satrumarai seva

With great affection he asked, Child !  Are you from Kancheepuram . I said

Yes very near to Kanchipuram a village Kazhiyur  and our forefathers are from Mudumbai

He immediately said,  Child  “You belong to the sacred villages of Kazhiyur and forefathers from  Mudumbai.

Do you know the glorious service your forefathers rendered to Lord Veṅkaṭeśwara?

Do you know that Mudumbai is associated with Swamy  Piḷḷai LokĀchārya?”

I listened silently. Then he said words that transformed my life.

“Before undertaking more pilgrimages… first reach your Āchārya.”

At that time… although I had received Pañca Saṁskāra. ..

the demands of worldly life had prevented me from personally

approaching my revered Āchārya and receiving his guidance

due to my laziness and unpardonable excuses such as occupational hazards and material  ignorance

The Jeeyar looked at me with compassion and smiled.

“From today onwards… wear your Ūrdhva Puṇḍra everywhere wherever you go .

Never separate your worldly life from your spiritual identity.”

Those words did not sound like advice. They felt like

Lord Swamy  Veṅkaṭeśwara Himself speaking through His servant.

That single conversation changed the direction of my life.

The search for my Āchārya now became stronger than my desire for pilgrimage.

Soon afterwards… by the immeasurable grace of JagadĀchārya Swamy  Rāmānuja..

I was blessed to personally meet our revered HH Mudaliāṇḍān Swamy at Siṅgaperumāl Koil.

Many childish doubts that had troubled me for years…he answered with nothing more than a gentle

smile.

As I prepared to leave… he lovingly assured me, Child “I shall come to your home.”

At that moment… I assumed it was only his kindness.

I did not know… that the Lord had already arranged far more than I could imagine.

True to his divine word… our revered Āchārya later blessed our home not once…

but on three  separate occasions along with the deities worshipped by

HH Swamy MudaliAndaan  a thousand years ago during Jagath Acharyar Swamy Ramanujas period .

Each visit became another chapter in my spiritual rebirth. Only later did I understand…

The Lord first attracts us to His temples. Then He gently leads us to His Āchāryas.

For the temple shows us His beauty…but the Āchārya teaches us how never to

lose Him again.

Only now…

while walking this Archirādi Mārga… do I understand.

Those were not separate incidents.

They were one continuous stream of compassion flowing from JagadĀchārya Swamy  Rāmānuja Himself.

The Guru-paramparā had quietly taken hold of my hand long before I knew

I was searching. Knowledge no longer remained confined to books.

It began flowing through living tradition.Advanced devotees entered my life

one after another. Without even noticing…the importance I once gave to

worldly achievements began to fade.  Service… Naama sankirtana Satsanga…

Divya Deśa Yātrās… Āchārya Yātrās… Divya Prabandham.recitation ..

and Bhagavad Kainkaryam gradually became life’s greatest wealth.

Looking back today… I realise… none of these began with a grand miracle.

Everything began… with one elderly devotee… upon a lonely mountain path…

quietly gifting me one sacred name

“Srimathey Rāmānujāya Namaḥ”

Our PūrvĀchāryas teach that the Lord’s grace often reaches us through the

words of His devotees. Sometimes a single instruction received with faith becomes

the seed from which an entire spiritual life blossoms.

The Guru’s words continue working long after the conversation has ended.

Today…

walking upon the Archirādi Mārga…

I no longer wonder whether I truly met JagadĀchārya Swamy  Rāmānuja.

I did. Not first through a book. Not first through a temple. But through

His  divine Name. That Name quietly led me to His devotees…

His temples… His teachings… and finally… to Himself.

“Some pilgrimages begin when we leave home.

The greatest pilgrimage begins when one sacred Name enters the heart.”

“‘Srimathey Rāmānujāya Namaḥ’ was not merely a mantra I repeated.

It slowly became the path upon which the Lord led me.”

“The greatest miracles often begin with the simplest instruction from a saint.”

Perhaps… the Lord does not always call us through thunder.

Perhaps… He whispers through one humble devotee…upon one forgotten

mountain path… and quietly changes the direction of an entire life.

As I stood silently remembering that sacred day…a radiant form slowly appeared before me.

His saffron robes shone brighter than the morning sun. His compassionate eyes embraced the entire universe.

The Āḻvārs smiled. The Āchāryas folded their hands. The entire Archirādi Path seemed to rejoice.

“The Lord gave me countless blessings.

But perhaps His greatest gift was sending one devotee…

to teach me one Name…

that quietly transformed my entire life.”

Looking back today…

I no longer believe that my journey toward JagadĀchārya Swamy  Rāmānuja began when

I first read about Him.

It began much earlier… upon a lonely mountain path at Tirukkurungudi…

when an elderly priest quietly whispered into the ears of an ordinary pilgrim,

“Child… keep chanting ‘Swamy mate Rāmānujāya Namaḥ.’

Everything is hidden within that one mantra.”

I shall finally behold the One whose compassion has been flowing through every

Āchārya we have met… JagadĀchārya Swamy  Rāmānuja.

Yet before I stand before him…

I must first understand why every one of his Āchāryas lovingly prepared my heart to receive him.

Tomorrow…

For the first time… I shall stand face to face with my existence

 JagadĀchārya Swamy  Rāmānuja.
